Detect movement after dark and see what happened in full color. The aosu T2 Ultra combines PIR and radar detection with TrueColor imaging to help you notice activity and understand it, from someone entering your gate to a visitor leaving a bag beside the garage.
TrueColor Covert captures that color view with very dim camera lighting. When a darker area needs more illumination for sharper moving detail, TrueColor with Spotlight provides it. Together with AI detection, these capabilities give you useful information about who or what is moving around your home.
PIR and Radar Detect Movement in the Dark
Picture someone opening your side gate and walking toward the garage after dark. T2 Ultra’s PIR sensor responds to changes in thermal infrared as that person moves through its detection area. Its 60 GHz millimeter-wave radar detects movement using radio waves and their reflections.
Both sensing methods work without visible light. That is part of what makes TrueColor Covert practical: you can keep the camera’s lighting discreet while PIR and radar continue to sense movement. Choosing the dimmer lighting mode doesn’t take those detection methods away.
AI detection analyzes the camera image to help distinguish people, vehicles and animals. Together with PIR and radar, it helps reduce unnecessary alerts. The color recording gives you the detail to look at the event yourself: the person at the gate, what they’re carrying and where they go.
TrueColor Covert Shows the Details of the Visit
As the visitor comes through the gate, color adds useful information to their outline and movement. You can see the color of their jacket and bag, then follow what happens as they approach the garage. Those details make it easier to describe the visit or compare it with another recording.
TrueColor Covert produces this full-color night view while using a very dim light. It’s particularly useful for a side gate near a bedroom, a garden facing neighboring windows or a driveway where you prefer not to add a bright spotlight.
PIR and radar support detection without needing the area to be visibly lit; TrueColor Covert provides the color image you review. Together, they let you monitor nighttime activity with discreet camera lighting.
The camera’s low-light imaging system makes this possible. T2 Ultra combines an F/1.0 lens, a 1/1.8-inch starlight image sensor and AI-assisted image processing. The lens and sensor capture the available light, while AI-assisted image processing helps produce the nighttime color image you see in the app.
Its 4K resolution provides a detailed view of the people, objects and surroundings in the frame. Ambient light from a porch, nearby buildings, streetlights or the night sky helps the camera capture that scene. How much light reaches the visitor also affects how clearly their movement appears.

A More Even View Across the Garden
A bright spotlight can make nearby plants, a wall or the center of a path much brighter than the background. Covert avoids adding that concentrated pool of white light, which can make the view across a garden feel more evenly lit.
The comparison below shows the same garden in TrueColor Covert at the top and TrueColor with Spotlight below. Covert keeps color visible across the lawn and trees, while the spotlight brightly illuminates the foreground plants.

Keep the Visitor Clear as They Walk Toward the Garage
The visitor keeps walking, and the amount of light on them becomes especially important. With plenty of ambient light, TrueColor Covert can capture moving people and objects clearly as well as showing them in color. Someone crossing a well-lit driveway can retain sharper detail, with less blur or ghosting around their movement.
In a very dark area, the background can look clear while a moving person appears blurred or leaves a faint trail. Low-light video often uses longer exposures to collect enough light. Movement during an exposure spreads detail across the image, while ghosting can appear as a faint afterimage around the moving subject.
PIR and radar can still detect movement in that darkness, but seeing the person’s clothing or what they’re carrying depends on the image the camera captures. This is where added illumination becomes useful.
TrueColor with Spotlight Adds Light for Sharper Movement
If the walk from the gate to the garage is very dark, TrueColor with Spotlight adds white-light illumination to the area it covers. That extra light supports shorter exposures and sharper moving detail, helping you see a person’s face, clothing or carried object as they walk past.
The choice fits the setting. Covert can give you color and clear movement in a garden with enough ambient light, using very dim camera lighting. Spotlight is useful for a darker entrance or driveway where added light is welcome and you want sharper detail during movement.
A clip of someone walking through the same area shows the difference more clearly than a still image. It reveals both the color you can see and how well the person’s moving outline and carried objects hold their detail.
Which T2 Ultra Night-Vision Mode Fits Your Home?
For the gate-to-garage walk, either TrueColor mode works alongside PIR, radar and AI detection. Choose Covert when you want discreet lighting and the available light gives you the moving detail you need. Choose Spotlight when the area needs more illumination.
| Mode | Lighting and moving detail | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| TrueColor Covert | Very dim camera light; ambient light helps retain color and sharper movement | A garden, side gate or driveway where you want discreet lighting |
| TrueColor with Spotlight | Brighter illumination helps keep moving people and objects sharper in dark areas | A dark entrance or driveway where added lighting is welcome |

Nighttime Detection and Full-Color Recording
When a visitor leaves a bag beside the garage and heads back to the gate, T2 Ultra’s event clips let you review their clothing, what they carried and where they left it. PIR and radar detect movement without relying on visible light, while AI detection helps distinguish people, vehicles and animals. T2 Ultra saves event clips rather than continuous 24/7 video.
TrueColor Covert provides a full-color view with discreet camera lighting. Where more light is needed for sharper moving detail, TrueColor with Spotlight adds illumination. Both modes work alongside the same detection system, so you can choose the lighting that suits your home.
FAQs
Does TrueColor Covert use any light?
Yes. TrueColor Covert has a very dim light. It gives you a color night view without the bright illumination of TrueColor with Spotlight, and ambient light helps improve the image and moving detail.
Can T2 Ultra detect motion at night with the spotlight off?
Yes. Its PIR sensor responds to changes in thermal infrared, and its radar detects movement using radio waves. Neither requires visible light to detect movement.
Why can movement look blurry in TrueColor Covert?
In very dark conditions, longer exposures can blur a moving person or object, and ghosting can appear as a faint trail. With enough ambient light, Covert can capture movement more clearly. TrueColor with Spotlight adds illumination to help keep moving detail sharper in dark areas.
Does T2 Ultra record continuously in TrueColor Covert?
T2 Ultra saves event clips rather than continuous 24/7 video. TrueColor Covert changes how it captures the night image; it does not turn event recording into continuous recording.
