A battery camera goes up in minutes with two screws and no cable — which is exactly what you want on a rented wall, a detached garage or a spot with no outlet within reach. The trade-off is that you recharge it by hand instead of forgetting about it.
All three models here record to local storage, so there is no monthly fee to keep or review footage.
Choose your battery camera
- Wireless Cam Lite 2K outdoor camera with PIR motion detection, full-colour night vision, spotlight and siren, two-way audio, weatherproof, on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Works with Alexa and Google Assistant. The single-camera starting point.
- WirelessCam System Pro 2K multi-camera system with secure remote access and local storage, no subscription.
- WirelessCam System Max The same system at 5MP, with 32GB of local storage on the hub.
Battery only, or battery with a solar panel?
These three are battery-only: you take the camera down (or bring a cable to it) when it needs charging. If the mounting spot gets a few hours of direct sun, a solar model removes that chore entirely — the panel keeps the same battery topped up in place. Those are on the solar powered security cameras page.
Battery-only makes more sense under a deep porch roof, on a north-facing wall, or anywhere a panel would sit in shade most of the day.
What actually drains the battery
Runtime figures assume a normal number of daily events. Three things shorten them sharply: a camera pointed at a public sidewalk or a busy road, so it records constantly; live view left streaming; and cold weather, which reduces the usable capacity of any lithium battery. Narrowing the detection zone to your own property usually does more for runtime than any setting in the app.
